I was honored to be a recent guest on the Mariner Wealth podcast, YOUR LIFE SIMPLIFIED. As a current or emerging leader, you can simplify your life and your role by seeking out resources that help impact your ability to be more effective. In this episode, we explored my coaching philosophy, the approach we use, as well as a few lessons learned along the way. In the final question, I was asked to share a few pearls of wisdom. Here are the three that rose to the top:
If you’re considering engaging a coach, choose wisely. Make sure they have a solid track record of success, years of proven experience and have built their business from strong referrals. This matters much more than certifications or social media savvy.
“What Got You Here Won’t Get You There,” as the title of Marshall Goldsmith’s book wisely reminds us. Because we live in a world of hyperdynamic roles, organizations and environments, we have to evolve and grow as well.
Increasingly, professional and leadership development will be considered as a competitive advantage by job candidates. Organizations in the race to hire, engage and retain team members will offer coaching as part of their total rewards.
